Action Movies From The 1990s

The 1990s were a great period for action movies. When you watch them now, they do look a little bit dated, but the era certainly did shape the way movies are today. 90s action movies were great for their time and on this page, we take a look at some of the iconic ones that made cinema what it is today.

The Matrix

The red pill or the blue pill? This 90s action movie is a cult hit and people still watch it today in wonder. Keanu Reeves stars as the saviour of humanity in a movie where he is told that everything he believes to be real is just a computer programme. The irony is that the movie itself is set in the 1990s.

Total Recall

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a bored worker in the future who wants to take a fantasy holiday to Mars. He ends up encountering mutants, special agents and all sorts of other characters as he tries to make sense of what is happening. Is he in a dream holiday or is it real? Nearly 30 years later, the jury is still out on that one. A reboot of the movie was made featuring Colin Farell in 2012.

Terminator 2 – Judgment Day

They are still making sequels of this franchise today. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a robot that comes back from the future to help a young boy escape the clutches of Skynet, a network of machines that has pledged to destroy all humans and take over the world.

Jurassic Park

Genetic scientists come up with the great idea of harvesting dinosaur DNA to recreate these incredible beasts. When it was released, it was cutting edge technology and it is still good to watch today. The cast is good, the acting is OK, but the plot is brilliant.
